Life Aquatic Presents : Galapagoose Album Launch Sydney

I will be co-presenting the Sydney launch of one of a terrific album called Commitments by one of my favourite humans, Trent Gill aka Galapagoose with my good friends at The Gate at Serial Space in Chippendale. Supporting acts will be Guerre and a super exciting new Sydney outfit Cliques, consisting of members of Seekae and 48/4. Also, at one point in the night I’ll be DJing (whatever that means). Australians can buy Commitments here and internationals from here or digitally from Beatport. The launch is this Sunday so join the facebook group and attend the shiz out of this!

Galapagoose // One Who Can’t Move

Our favourite man Galapagoose has just released his first single from his upcoming album Commitments which is coming out on Daedelus’ label Magical Properties (and Two Bright Lakes for an Australian release). I recall Trent telling me about this Frank Sinatra sampling track he’d started in a bar in Sydney just before we met up for dinner once and here it is. One Who Can’t Move uses the most spine tingling vocal samples I’ve heard in a while. Moulding those melancholic vocals with an upbeat and joyful bass line is a task I’d only trust Galapagoose with pulling off. If all goes to plan Galapagoose should also be releasing a delish 7” vinyl through Life Aquatic Records within the next few months. [photo]

Galapagoose // Ploy

Melbourne resident Trent Gill aka Galapagoose (his legs pictured above) has just delivered this vocal containing piece to the //This Thing// website as a free mp3 off his upcoming tape Nuance. Trent was a  cripple for a bit with a horrible broken collarbone but that doesn’t stop him from making instant classics or stop him from supporting Matthewdavid (from Brainfeeder) at FBi Social in Sydney on the 20th of November (fb event). Download the track free from //This Thang//. Shazam. [photo]

Slamagotchi + Panorama + Galapagoose // Sleeping Pill

Three of Australia’s most eccentric beat wizards combine their magical powers to condure up this slow cooked delight called Sleeping Pill. Their use of monome’s creates a warped unpredictable beat which comands the futuristic melody consisting of droplets of synth sounds. Be sure to come to the Life Aquatic / East To West presents show to see Galapagoose in action. Click attending on the facebook page and buy a ticket here. [photo]

Galapagoose // Shades Of Summer

Melbourne’s Galapagoose just snuck this tropical, underwater creation up onto his soundcloud. T. Gill has the amazing ability to convert seemingly unmusical samples into an overall collage of audio bliss. I’ve been watching his live performance videos on his Vimeo account religiously in the past few weeks. Also watch his set on RRR radio over here. We’ll be trying to get him for a show in Sydney soon as well as an mid/end of the year 7” release, so start salivating. [photo]

Galapagoose // Summersun

A new week brings a fresh new artist from the city of Melbourne. His delightfully unconventional beats and samples mix to create a dense messy layer of sound on top of which he occasionally throws down his timid vocals. Head over to his Soundcloud to follow his musical endeavors. There has already been some talk about releasing through Life Aquatic Records towards the end of the year, nothing has been confirmed as yet. He is not to be confused with Galapagos, who makes equally fun beats.
