Geoffrey O’Connor // So Sorry (The Townhouses Remix)

The Townhouses gives Melbourne’s Geoffrey O’Connor’s So Sorry an unapologetically tropical redo. The Townhouse’s calling card has got to be those soft  keys that he gives all the room in the world to breath before he lathers on some vocal samples and double bass. On Friday this fine remix will find itself among other remixes by Guerre and Oliver Tank as a collaboration between our buddies Yes Please and Chapter Music and will be available from Geoffrey’s Bandcamp.  [photo]

The Townhouses // Faithful (Common)

The Townhouses from Melbourne are somehow sounding better and better with every track they release. This track which was originally done by super h-core rapper Common, now it flows like a lukewarm stream. Strange glitchy samples come and go, but the flinchingly good snare smash continues to make me smile. This track comes off a well awaited hip hop covers mixtape curated by the high quality blog flashlight tag. It is potentially the best mixtape to have blessed my ears in the last few months. Download it over here and don’t look back.

The Townhouses // Ancestral Lands

Leigh Hannah has just cooked up this delightfully tropical lullaby.

The Townhouses lead us through a long intro until the song finally explodes at the 1 and a half minute mark and flourishes into a caribbean flower consisting of ringing chimes and plucked strings.

If you are reading this from Melbourne, go catch The Townhouses play with our friends Alpine over at the Worker’s Club in Fitzroy.

The Townhouses // Temora

The Townhouses of melbourne introduce their latest EP with a harmonic minimlaist track.

Temora sits ideally in the middle of a transition period of weather. The Australians feel the last of the cooler nights while the north Americans are slowly introduced to them. I can’t help categorizing Temora as a more wintry track, due to Leigh Hannah’s icy layered vocals and the sense that this track has been slowed down by the cold like a fish in icy water.

The Townhouses // Snowtown

I am always so proud to post about an Australian artist. This one comes from the intriguing mind of Leigh Hannah.

Glistening bells and underwater clicks persist throughout Snowtown as the vocals bounce off imaginary walls until eventually a crisp bass line appears. Its off his debut full length titled Islands which you can download for free over here.

Follow him on the tumblrz here to find out about new tracks and stuffs.
