Purity Ring // Ungirthed
Purity Ring is a blossoming new project consisting of Corin, of Gobble Gobble fame, and Megan James. This track is a perfect project starter. It combines Megan’s cute pop laden vocals and a slamming beat, with the satisfying dub step influenced bass line peaking in through the cracks. They even cheekily use a bit of vocoder to give the vocals a stronger pop sound.

Gobble Gobble// Alabaster Bodyworlds (Kumon Plaza Remix)
I was delighted to see this little gem appear in my inbox this evening. I was planning on posting the other very recent Gobble Gobble remix by Teen Daze, but this one is more unique in my eyes.
Kumon Plaza is Dylan Khotin-Foote who has been making regular appearances on many of my buddies’ blogs for quite a while now. I feel bad for not having posted him before. I will make an effort to follow his releases in the future.
This subdued remix is carried along by the infinitely cool analog synth bass. Cecil’s angelic voice makes restrained appearances as if out of a cracked amplifier. The track eventually builds up to culminate with layers of synths and passive drum samples.

Gobble Gobble // Boring Horrors
I don’t think I know anyone that loves music more than Cecil Frena from Gobble Gobble. His music is filled with a sense of child like awe and affection.
Among all the touring and chaos, Cecil has managed to release a new track called Boring Horror. A dense track filled with 8 bit synth clicks, a bombardment of chopped up samples and Cecil’s soaring vocals.
It was debuted on The Road Goes Ever On’s latest mix which you should check out here and download here. Its full of fresh tracks to improve your living conditions.

Here’s a powerful track to get you pumped for the new week. I found this on The Road Goes Ever On’s recent mix called Small Summits - definitely some choice tunes on there worth exploring! Though now a member of the Bay Area music scene, Canada’s GOBBLE GOBBLE takes the very minimal, chilled out “Beach 2” by Persona La Ave and completely flips it around. It’s like the musical equivalent of turning a 1988 Volvo into a Le Mans race car. It’s not really a remix, it’s a whole new song completely. Check out GOBBLE GOBBLE on Tumblr too.

Coma Cinema is the folk-dappled, chilled out confessional/accusational songwriting of Mat Cothran from South Carolina. Mat’s immediately relatable voicebox brings along with it a striking, unsettling way with words, and Coma Cinema’s minimal arrangements tend more often to elevate and illuminate his lyrics than to obfuscate them in walls of sound. The goal for this remix was to preserve the emotional gravity of his song while having some fun with space and time - GBL’s first 6/8 disco section, but hopefully not our last.Mat has just dropped a lovely full-length tape on the mighty Arcade Sound Ltd., revealed a somewhat disturbing music video for Only, and will be playing shows around the east coast throughout the summer months. Don’t miss him.
